MOUTHRINSE NEDENTO · GUMS CHLORHEXIDINE 0.12% and GINGIVAL GEL NEDENTO · GUMS CHLORHEXIDINE 0.2% have the following indications:
Periodontology: Sharp reduction of the plaque and gingivitis index, coadjuvant in the initial and maintenance phases of periodontal therapy.
Periodontal surgery: protects saturated areas and prevents infection, favoring healing.
Oral and maxillofacial surgery: as a prophylactic mouthwash it prevents post-surgical bacteremia as possible complications due to infectious processes, facilitating healing. Indicated for intermaxillary fixation patients.
Comprehensive Dentistry: Indicated as a prophylactic mouthrinse before any dental treatment, prevention and treatment of denture stomatitis, reduces the incidence, severity and duration of recurrent aphthose ulcers.
Endodontics: In irrigation and disinfection of radicular ducts.
Implantology: favors the healing process. Coadjuvant in the maintenance therapy during the dental implant placing phase.
Dental extraction: Significant reduction of the risk for alveolitis after dental extraction.
Orthodontics: stimulates healing of ulcers produced by orthodontic appliances. Gingivitis decrease associated to the accumulation of plaque by fixed devices. Its use is also recommended for bacterial plaque control in patients disabled and elders that have difficulties with their brushing techniques, as well as a prophylactic in rampant dental caries in radiated patients.
MOUTHRINSE NEDENTO · GUMS CHLORHEXIDINE 0.12% and GINGIVAL GEL NEDENTO · GUMS CHLORHEXIDINE 0.2% have a formula that offers a triple therapeutic effect:
Antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and healer, as well as plaque reducing.
Due to its ingredients such as Vitamin B5, Allantoin and Vitamin E, they have tonifying and regenerative properties, it allows inflammation decrease of gums affected with gingivitis, keeping them in good state. And due to its adhesive property it allows a sustained action of its active principles.
PHARMACOKINETICS AND PHARMACODYNAMICS.
Pharmacodynamics: Chlorhexidine is a topical antiseptic of broad antimicrobial spectrum used in dentistry, with a potency of action comparable to other antibiotics used. With a pH oscillating between 5 and 8, it is efficient against Gram-positive and Gram-negative, anaerobic and facultative aerobic bacteria, as well as fungi. Due to the cationic properties of chlorhexidine, it strongly binds to anionic (electronegative) compounds, mainly to carboxy (-COO-), sulfate (-SO3-) groups, also known as acidic groups, present in different bacterial structures and the oral dental caries: bacterial cell wall, glycoproteins in the saliva, acquired film (organic film covering the dental surface) and dental enamel. These acidic groups act as potential chlorhexhidine receptors. Because of its adsorption capacity ( fixation, adhesion) to above-mentioned structures, diverse action mechanisms derive from chlorhexidine: bacterial destruction (bactericidal effect), prevents the attachment capacity of bacteria and reduces the formation of acquired plaque.
Pharmacokinetics: the ingestion of 4% chlorhexidine in mouthrinses and 60% in gels has been calculated. Due to its high molecular weight, chlorhexidine is poorly absorbed by the digestive tract mucosa. It does not accumulate in the organism and its metabolism does not carry adverse effects. The excretion of ingested chlorhexidine is mainly through feces (90%) and the rest is eliminated through the urine.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Do not administer to patients allergic to any of the components of the formula.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: Do not ingest. Keep far from children. Do not administer during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING RESTRICTIONS: Although there is no laboratory proof that suggest any mutagenesis and/or carcinogenesis, fetal development or newborn issues, this product should not be administered during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
SIDE REACTIONS: The literature reports side reactions to prolonged oral use of chlorhexidine such as: staining of dental surfaces, aesthetic crowns or total or partial prosthesis, which can be eliminated with dental hygiene. Decrease in the sense of taste and supragingival calculus formation, which disappear when use is discontinued. Drug interactions and others: Since it is a dicationic molecule, chlorhexidine inactivates in presence of anionic molecules such as sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium fluoride, thus it is recommended not to be used along with products that contain them.
ALTERATIONS TO LABORATORY RESULTS:
There are no reports that show any alterations to laboratory reports. CARCINOGENESIS, MUTAGENESIS, TERATOGENESIS AND FERTILITY PRECAUTIONS: There are no reports proving any effect on carcinogenesis, mutagenesis, teratogenesis and/or fertility alterations.
